dirt cheap.

You know? The store.

In case you have a b s o l u t e l y  no idea what I am talking about, it's a store in our town that gets leftovers, and damaged/markdown items from stores like Target, Walmart, etc. and sells it for a fraction of the price.

aka. My heaven!

I get out of class at ten these days and I usually pick a store to go walk around in and "window shop" so yesterday, Dirt cheap was that choice. I walked in and saw all of this Target goodness on the back wall and went crazy. Shortly to find out that it couldn't be touched until the SALE today.

So, they opened at 9:00 and people were waiting outside to purchase these goods. You better bet I had a game plan to be there after class this morning and get a rug that I've been eyeing for a while on Target.com. I even got to see some blog friends at the sale. We know a good thing when we see it, right Nicole.

These are the three that I was choosing from, and I ended up getting the maroonish/colored one of the left for Mi Madre. As much as I loved the lime and blue rug, I chose this one for my balcony:

of course a "vine" had to happen.

I think $10 for this runner was VERY good. :) I'm a happy thrifter.
Check out a Dirt Cheap store if you have one around you.

*I was not compensated for this post. These are just my honest opinions.

Weekend Shenanigans.

Monday, April 22, 2013

I love weekends when my family comes up and we shop, eat at local restaurants and I'm able to show them my life in "the haven". My mama came up Friday night and we lived it up. She's a cool cat, I tell you.
My weekend started on Thursday night according to my collage. :)
fyi: my collage went crazy and the pictures are all out of order. Sorry you'll have to figure out the pictures! :) Thank goodness y'all are so smart!
1&2.) Friends from church and I went to Central BBQ and Muddy's Bakery. Let me tell you, two of my new favorite places! 3.) Mama brought my Double Decker shirt. I can't wait for this weekend. #hottytoddy
4.) Saturday, we went to the Helen Brett jewelry show and these were my favorite  purchases. I saw the beach cup holder on pinterest and was so excited when I saw them there. Also, my Marley Lilly inspired purse. So cute for game days and such when I only need a small purse. Monogram was everywhere this year! I absolutely think that you can't have too many things that are stamped with your initials!
5.) Peppers with mama after church. Love their sandwiches.
6.) So lucky to have such a great relationship with this lady.
LOVE YOU, mama!

It's Monday again and I'm ready for these days to dwindle down and it be summer! I'll be taking classes this summer but that's still a break from the beautiful chaos of being a teacher! I will miss those babies though.

Hope y'all are ready for this week!

Target-1, Lauren-0

Wednesday, January 30, 2013

Well, I decided to make a Target run tonight. And girls, we all know how that turns out, right?

I go in the store with every intention of getting some supplies for school and I end up spending money that I really need to be saving for my Spring Break Trip. Uh, where is my millionaire? jk. (kinda)

This is my precious new iphone, credit card wallet. Sometimes I hate taking my hobo wallet wherever I go and this makes it so much easier to handle. Plus, I'm obsessed with chevron so it's p.e.r.f.e.c.t.

Then, this happened. Now, let's snap back to reality.. Lauren doesn't cook at all but she loves to have pretty things in her kitchen. My eyes spotted this beaut and I fell in love. Then, I may or may not have text my mother and left a big hint! :)

This lady, Shay blogged about this beauty tonight too! Go check her out, you won't regret it.
Do you have a KitchenAid Mixer? Let me know what you think about them?

Alright y'all. It's bed-time. Been a productive today! Hope you are ready for Thursday!! I am.

comment away!

Monday, I guess it's good to see you again.

Monday, January 23, 2012

Well, it's that time again. Post those pictures that we love from the week before.

Enjoy my life through pics, will you?

Harper's cute little nose. this dog steals my heart every day! :) If you own a dog, isn't it crazy how happy, sappy, mad, angry, and special these dogs can make you feel?

Thanks, Emily! I love my Colonel Reb! I put him on my desk like you told me to.
(FYI: I know I am going to get asked this question. That prickly thing is a finger paper sorter. Easier than licking your finger. A teacher friend gave it to me for a present.)

Love my new classroom door happy! It'll be personalized one day! Until now, enjoy the cuteness! I am obsessed with cutesy things for my classroom and home doors. But after Santa was stolen off of my front door, I am really skeptical about where I put them!

Re-did this mailbox. I'm going to use it in my classroom soon. Writing has to improve before then. I'll keep you updated on the teacher blog. www.1stgradebound.blogspot.com
I need to start posting on there weekly. Keep me motivated.

Love my new kitchen organizer. Plate rack, and random dishes from the thrift store. I'm so easy to satisfy. Ha! These will be turned into a plate wall soon.

This was a canvas at the mall. I just loved the saying and the little people. Aren't friends wonderful! So glad God blessed me with some that would give me sunshine on any cloudy day! *Thankful

Shoes purchases from Saturday! Love these. I might break my neck, but I really think they are so fun. Plus, my brother's girlfriend got the same ones on the bottom so we can twink sometime.

Crackle polish attempt #1! I really like it. ULTA had it for $5.99 yesterday. I couldn't resist.

On another note:

I have the best parents in the world. My daddy fixed my air conditioner in my car this weekend and I couldn't be happier. He's the best.
Plus, thank you LORD for helping my grandmother this week. She had eye-lid surgery and she is badly bruised and awful looking. He's helping the pain and for that we are thankful! :)

Happy Monday!

Thrift Shopping.

Thursday, January 12, 2012

Today's topic is what's going on inside my crazy OCD head! It's something that I enjoy and I feel like I can save money with.
THRIFT SHOPPING
I started thrifting my sophomore year of high school and I had no idea what it would mean for my life. I would check the local thrift stores back home usually once a week and that was that. It was just something fun that I could do to pass the time before work.

Then, through high school and college it was something that was SOOO much fun for me. I bought lots of neat things that I would take home and decorate with or wear and people would always comment on what I had. I would be so proud when I had only paid $1.00 or .50 cents for something.

Now, it's something fun for me to do to de-stress. Hence the above picture.

I remember taking a WinterSession class @ Ole Miss last year and I wrote a paper about thrift shopping. My teacher loved it and wanted me to send a copy to a certain department to put on their website about recycling. I just couldn't bring myself to do it but I do feel that it is a great way to re-use things and not spend as much money in the process.

Just a few of my purchases, over many years.

today's puchases- Banana Republic shoes, re-done mirror (i spray painted black) and a new pillow for my couch. :)

 The Deviled Egg Costume! :)

My antique chifferobe. My daddy picked this up from a Craigslist purchase. I added the fabric and such...

Old coke trays for finger nail polish. love this.

My $3.00 BCBG shoes. :)

YardSale finds.

Make-up brush holder or a flower vase...

Red Mantle Frame

A cheese grater makes a wonderful earring holder!

i've gotten tons of clothes, decor items and lots of killed time.

Oh, so worth it!

The First Day of the Week.

Sunday, October 23, 2011

Happy Sunday, everyone!

It's been one of those weekends where I am utterly exhausted but so thankful that I am.
It's been fun!

Friday- We had a field trip to the Memphis Botanical Gardens. My firsties had fun and it was overall a good day. I wasn't able to take pictures because you know-- I was trying to make sure I didn't loose a kid! :)
(Haley-- Mission Accomplished, thanks for the prayers! )

Then.. Friday night.. oh, Friday night. I was treated to this lovely place

by my brother and enjoyed one of the best meals of my life. Seriously, GO!!

Thanks, Adam! It's now one of my favorite places.

Saturday- woke up and got ready for an all day shopping trip! Linda Ray and I went all over Memphis, seriously, and had such a good day. Ate some great food, have coffee, and spent money that we probably didn't need to!

I got a cute dress, some seven jeans @ Tjmaxx,  and talked about LIFE. I just love fun days with family. Exactly what I needed.
I, of course, missed going home but I love weekends in Southaven.

then, today-- Visited Longview Heights Baptist Church and LOVED it! Hopefully I have found the place that God wants me to be a part of and serve. We'll see..

Just some pictures from the weekend.

Just a preview of what I want! haha!
