I own a HOUSE!

Sunday, August 31, 2014

Y'all.. it happened!  I bought a house! When I found out that I had gotten the Kindergarten teaching job at Lafayette, I started looking for somewhere to live. Now, in Oxford this is no small feat.

I searched high and low for an affordable house that I would love for years to come. Every time I came to town I would drive around and see if there was anything out there for me. After all the months of looking, I had a couple of leads and made even made an offer on a house that I thought I LOVED. It all happened so quickly and then it fell apart. (Let's just say the house wasn't for me and would have been a disaster if it should have happened.)

I'm so thankful that my Sweet Savior always has his hands on my every decision. After the house incident, my mother heard about another house that was about to be put on the market and told me that I should look into it.  I went and looked at the house and loved it! I'm so thankful that I found it when I did.

I never realized what a process buying a house truly is. Through the making offers, negotiating and closing, it has been crazy but fun! I'm happy to say that on this past Thursday, this beaut became MINE!

I'm grateful to my Mother and Daddy who had to do most of the "non-fun" work throughout the process. Being a teacher and closing on a house is not easy and they had to make a lot of the decisions because I wasn't available during the day. I will never be able to re-pay them for all of their help!

Soon and very soon, I will have an update on the decorating and finishing touches of the house. We are moving Tuesday and I know I'll go full-force to get a lot of the decorating done! I am SO excited about having a place in my favorite town to call home!

Now I'm on the hunt for a dining room table and other accessories for my new abode. If you have any suggestions or see anything that I can't live without, hit me up on Social Media!

My Happy Place. {Oxford, Mississippi}

Monday, July 14, 2014

I love this place with all of my being! Oxford has been in my blood since I was VERY little and I'm so thankful to have grown up so close to this magical place.  One of my first memories of Oxford and Ole Miss was a Homecoming pep rally that my mother took my friend Ashley and I to. Now.. Ashley was a State fan so this wasn't good from the get go! I was loving the cheerleaders and the football players but I remember the Hotty Toddy cheer most of all. I couldn't BELIEVE that they were cussing over and over! My mother was having to do a lot of explaining to Ashley and I.

When I drive into Oxford, I feel at home. I always say that my heart pitter-patters! I love shopping around the square, eating at some of the best restaurants in the state, and especially game weekends in Oxford! If you have never been, let me take you to experience it!

When I was "pinterest-ing" one day, I came across this blog and it made me want to cry. Call me crazy if you wish! This guy was a visitor in Oxford for a game day weekend and his words and pictures matched up perfectly with my thoughts and feelings towards Oxford.

I know that State fans will say the say about their school/The Junction and that is perfectly okay with me. Every fan has their opinion and I completely respect that! I just know that Oxford is somewhere that I LOVE to visit and it's a place that is magical to me. I can't wait to be there in a couple of weeks for game day, filled with all the red and blue and yelling our famous HOTTY TODDY cheer!

Let me hear it.. Are You Ready?

My happy place.

Do you have one of those places that just makes your heart happy? That's OXFORD for me! Every time I drive in, my heart skips a beat! This weekend=Double Decker 2014.  Best and I drove in for a little while and braved the thousands of people and the HEAT.. I won't live this summer!

It's always so good to see friends and family along the way and to enjoy Oxford for what is has! It's such a pretty town and all the people that you know and love are in one place. What could be better than that?  Next year, come join won't you?

That cookie (Double Doozie) was totally worth the wait. Kelli's Cakery is a friend of mine who has just started her own bakery and it is amazing! Her cookies/cupcakes/cakes, etc. are awesome and totally worth every calorie. Check them out if you are ever in Oxford.

Which... DUH! This post is going to make you go ASAP!

After Double Decker, my 2nd brother married the love of his life, Holly. Their wedding was very laid back and a fun time was had.

And just for fun.. Who is this that showed up from the Hangover?!

Photo: Look who came to the wedding!! ITS ALAN!!

Hope you all are having a great week!

This crazy thing I like to call... LIFE.

Life is busy, y'all. But I miss this blog...
so.. I must come back.

There are so many memories that have been made lately. Weddings, babies, family time, shopping, baking.. you name it and we've done it. I think it would only be appropriate to do a collage of memories/pictures that I've taken lately.

God has blessed me with many different opportunities in my life. So many of these pictures make me super happy to see what HE has done! Shooting guns, buying pottery at the McCarty sale and Spring Break memories are my favorite. I'm a lucky girl!

See that cute bulletin board up there with burlap? It was $10 at a thrift store. Oh, I can't wait to see it in my classroom tomorrow morning! Be looking for it on Instagram soon.
This past week was Spring Break and I had SO much fun! It dawned on me today that I didn't take but a couple of hours to rest on this SB but at least I made lots of memories with people I love.

One of my favorite memories of SB this year was the day that I baked a coconut cake with my Mom(grandmother). Bre and I went and spent the afternoon with her and secretly I think she LOVED it. The cake wasn't bad either, I'm not a huge fan of coconut though!

I can't wait to get back to recording my life on here but until then... Hope y'all have a great week.

Weekend Shenanigans-- Oxford, MS Style

Monday, October 21, 2013

Oh, how I am missed this blog. Life-- SLOW DOWN!

It's Fall y'all and I can't wait for all of these fun adventures that are coming up. So, about this weekend... Lets recap.
//Friday night in Oxford=long waits at Ajax. But.. the food was totally worth the wait. We made nice with the waitresses and "because we were nice" (their words not mine) they seated us within 30 minutes.// Pottery shopping for Christmas.//LSU fan with his corndog in the Grove.. Typical.// Caitlyn and I cheering on our Rebs.//Love my co-workers and their talent.// Dr. Leslie, You is cute!//Brother and I "FINALLY" got to game it up together.// Bre Anna.. Sorry I almost yanked your hand off during our crazy game.//Harper is getting ready for Fall!

If you are an Ole Miss fan or just keep up with SEC football in general, our REBS won in the last .03 seconds of the game with a field goal. I don't know that I've ever screamed so much in my life. By the way, follow me on instagram (button on the side) and I documented lots from last night's game!

This week, I've got lots of to-do plans and hopefully they will get done so blogging can be a part of my life again! Check back, SOON!
