Bullying.

Tuesday, March 25, 2014

So, I've been a Teacher for 3 years and there is nothing that makes my skin crawl like a bully. I can't stand to see someone get made fun of for something that they have done, what they look like, or what they can't do. Oh, it's making me mad just thinking about it. This leads me to my blog post today.

Sunday while we were doing our usual weekend catch up in Sunday School, a lady asked for prayer for a certain school in our area. They (the Superintendent) had sent out a letter to parents, etc. about a new App that was ruining their schools closeness and social outlook. Students were adding YikYak to their daily lives and it was ruining friendships all over the school.

Now, in defense of the app, it was not designed to be a negative effect on people who cross it's path. But, in reality, that is exactly what it has become. I am not saying that all people who use this app are participating in negativity but watch out if you are a parents and make sure that your kids are not.

Teaching Kindergarten I do not see this meanness as much as the higher grades but believe me, it is there! I see students not picking some students because they can't run fast or because they have boogers in their nose and that is NASTY! I love being able to sit them down and talk to them about people's differences in the world. Oh, it has my heart!

Let your kids be little and let them figure out friendships and people on their own. But, make sure that they are exploring life safely and are friendly in the process!

People throw rocks at things that shine. Don't ever give up, even if words by others attempt to put you down.

Grad School, blah.

Monday, March 17, 2014

Kinda tired of 'grad school' and 'working' and 'paying bills.' Now accepting applications for: Sugar Daddy.
just kidding.

As we sit here, I am currently in class. 7:00-9:30 is a long time for this teacher who has been working all day to go and sit in a classroom. I am currently planning centers, I am on Facebook and I am blogging *obviously. This class isn't bad but I can only think of a MILLION things I need to do besides sit here and take notes.

I am very thankful for the opportunity to finish grad school before (hopefully) a husband, a home and kids take my time and attention. God has always had it on my heart to get my Master's Degree and I know that it is a goal that I have always wanted to accomplish. I can't WAIT until it is over!

When I graduate, and walk across that Grove stage, I am done with school. Now, National Boards is a different story and hopefully I will achieve that as well.

Do Grad school, do it but don't think it'll be easy!

Grad school sucks. Perhaps trophy wife would have been a more appropriate career path...

This crazy thing I like to call... LIFE.

Life is busy, y'all. But I miss this blog...
so.. I must come back.

There are so many memories that have been made lately. Weddings, babies, family time, shopping, baking.. you name it and we've done it. I think it would only be appropriate to do a collage of memories/pictures that I've taken lately.

God has blessed me with many different opportunities in my life. So many of these pictures make me super happy to see what HE has done! Shooting guns, buying pottery at the McCarty sale and Spring Break memories are my favorite. I'm a lucky girl!

See that cute bulletin board up there with burlap? It was $10 at a thrift store. Oh, I can't wait to see it in my classroom tomorrow morning! Be looking for it on Instagram soon.
This past week was Spring Break and I had SO much fun! It dawned on me today that I didn't take but a couple of hours to rest on this SB but at least I made lots of memories with people I love.

One of my favorite memories of SB this year was the day that I baked a coconut cake with my Mom(grandmother). Bre and I went and spent the afternoon with her and secretly I think she LOVED it. The cake wasn't bad either, I'm not a huge fan of coconut though!

I can't wait to get back to recording my life on here but until then... Hope y'all have a great week.
