In the Right Place...

Wednesday, July 27, 2011

Yesterday, I knew just that.
We had new teacher orientation @ Southaven High School and oh, there were probably 350 NEW teachers there. Talk. about. amazing.

As we sat down to begin the day the Assistant Superintendent of the district said these words, " Here in DeSoto county we don't do anything without prayer. Let's all bow our heads and pray." I was speechless. In the school district back home we have very religious people but cannot/will not pray before home football games and such. It gave me chillbumps to know that I had made a great decision in being a teacher in this school district. :)

It made me even more excited to begin and my precious daddy and brother

are coming up today to help me in my classroom for a bit. For the next 2 days, that's where I'll be.

Now on to Jamie's linkup

I'm finally on wireless internet. After 1 hour on the phone with my "un-named" cable company! :)

I get to go home this weekend for 4 days. Yes, I'm a family girl and I've been away for just a week.

I'm loving being a blogger as always but even more now that I am a first year teacher. There are so many blogs that give great ideas and some freebies are out there as well. If you see this and have tons of resources, let this lady know!

{four}
I'm getting excited about meeting my "firsties" and their parents Tuesday night @ Open House. I'm so excited and scared but ready to get going.

And.. Just because I want to. This is a video from our Yard Sale. The deviled egg costume made its comeback. :)

Happy Wednesday!

New.

Sunday, July 24, 2011

It's all new.
It's good, different, exciting.

I'm so excited about the potential that this move has for me. I'm getting nervous for 2 weeks when school starts! Ah!

Today I went and attended the Worship services @

DeSoto Hills Baptist Church.
I really enjoyed the service and the Pastor was very interesting. Trusting that God will show me exactly where he wants me. :)

I can't wait to keep you informed of this journey. God is good, yes he is.

The New Place

Saturday, July 23, 2011

Since I am finally settled in and living life, I decided to do a tour of my new apartment. I really love it here so far but I am kinda lonely with just moving here and not having any apartment friends yet. :)

No worries, I'm fine just needing something to take up my days and I know that is coming all too SOON!

I haven't decorated everything completely but here is a simple version of where I am living. :)

This is my little laundry room that I adore. It's tiny but so me. I'm loving my curtains the most and I believe that they make the room. :)
(thanks, Mrs. Margie)

My cute eating area. I've got to add something to the back wall.
My kitchen. Notice the Rooster painting? A 2nd grader did that. I'm such a teacher.
My living room. and yes...
got my chair! I love it!
so excited to have my mantel! Can't wait to really decorate it for seasons and such.
My tv center and cross wall.
sorry for the junk. :(
my extra bedroom. So far, it's had lots of company!
My hall decor. Love that painting!
My bedroom. I'm thinking Green is becoming my favorite color. We shall see.
Some of my Craigslist pieces and hand-me-downs.
My jewelry holders my daddy and I made. Love them!
Bathroom. Needs some work. :)

I'm excited to show ya'll my little nook. I'm so excited for the possibilities of my 1st place and I know that God has huge plans for me too.

This is such a transition for me and I pray that the Lord helps it get easier. I would love to get mail, gifts, and such from you friends! haha. jk, kinda.
If you would love to send me some mail or some encouragement I'll gladly give you my address via email.

Hope you all are having a great Saturday! :)

Fill In the Blank Friday!

Friday, July 22, 2011

1.   One of my happiest moments ever was     my 16th birthday when I was surprised with a limo for my friends and I to go eat and ride around in. I was completely surprised and I'm pretty sure I cried. It was so much fun!

2.  Summer is wedding season and weddings are   my favorite event to go to. There is nothing sweeter than two people who are in love than promising to spend their time together. I love going to weddings to get great ideas and to remember the love that God has given to the two people. LOVE THEM!

3.  This summer    has been wonderful and stressful all at the same time. It has been so much fun planning for my new, 1st place, and also figuring out what to do with my life after moving. Oh my. if only I had known and I haven't even started school yet. ha! Summer has been fun, spending time with friends and loving life.

4.  My summer food of choice has been  mexican food, ice cream, and sweet tea. Is there anything else?

5.  My summer uniform has been    shorts, tshirts, dress up clothes for interview and orientations. What can I say, life as a teacher?

6.  If I could spend the entire summer in one location I would choose     New York! I had the time of my life there and I would love to spend a summer there to do everything I want to see. Seriously, though. I would need an endless amount of money.

7.  My summer anthem is     "You Lie" by The Band Perry. No reason behind that, I just like the song. :)

Happy Friday!

New York is where it's at.

Oh my! Where do I even begin. New York was amazing!

I am so glad that I got to spend that time with my mama and she was such a good sport about everything. :)

We wore ourselves out trying to pack all that we wanted to do in 4 days but.. we accomplished everything but 1 that wasn't THAT important to us, just a want to.

I'm going to let my pictures tell the story.
(stick with me here).

These are extremely blurry but these were taken on our night tour atop the Double Decker Buses. This was such a neat thing to see. The skyline at night was amazing!

This town never sleeps. Loved all the hustle and bustle.

My sweet mother and I. Not the most flattering picture.

This flag had all the names of the people who were killed in 9-11. Man, this place left me in awe. It's terrible what these people went through but they are remembered daily!
This is one of the beds that the fireman/policeman slept in at St. Peter's Cathedral when they had a few minutes to rest. Wow!

this was a display of fireman/policeman patches that people bring from all over the world. It's in the shape of a  person. How heartbreaking is that!
Mama and I with the new Freedom Tower at Ground Zero. It's going to be amazing. just get ready to hear all about it.
Yeah, i'm that cool. this little lady was awesome to see! Definitely something that you should see one time in your lifetime!
Jumping picture at the Top of the Rock. :)
Middle of Times Square- There is a HUGE billboard that takes pictures of people walking. When we figured this out we had to do what everyone else was doing. ha!
Can you find us? ha!
Fun Cab ride to serendipity! :)
So much fun! Worth the wait, too!
Top of the Rock. So much fun! But.. I prefer the Empire State Building which we did on our last trip to the BIG APPLE!

Ok, really. I could show you every picture but I will spare you that craziness.
If you have any questions, I'm no professional but I would love to answer them or tell you what we thought.

Next up: My new Apartment! :)

iPhone dump. Thursday Edition

Thursday, July 21, 2011

It has been FOREVER since I have blogged. Seriously, I've missed it. But.. I'm back.

I've been to NYC, moved into my own apartment, and now I am working in my classroom.

See why I have been absent from this lovely bloggy world?

I'll leave you with an iPhone dump but believe me. Stories about each of those events above will be blogged about. :)

I love my new laundry room. The curtains just make the room.

So glad I got to share this trip with my best friend!

Just in case my future husband is reading...

I got to chat with Ann Curry and she is Precious!

This was fun! The security guard took our picture.

love my new watch! :)

So much more to come. Stay tuned to my crazy transition of life.

Matt Papa, guys!

Friday, July 8, 2011

Have you ever heard his music? It's amazing. I had the opportunity to worship with   Matt Papa during a DiscipleNow @ Calvary Baptist in Batesville, Mississippi. He is a guy who is on fire for God and shows it during the entirety of his show. It's an amazing sight to see him playing his music with every ounce of energy that is in him.

His album, This Changes Everything, will be available August 2nd on iTunes and on his website, www.mattpapa.com.  Really people, do yourself a favor and buy his album. It will speak to you in many ways because you will be able to relate to every song. I guarantee it!

God has blessed Matt with a great voice and the ability to reach people with his music. I related to so many of his songs during the D-Now weekend and I have kept up with his projects since.

BTW: I was not paid to do this review but I was able to listen to the entire NEW album. That's how I know it will be worth your moo-lah!
1,2,3-- Go support!

Fill in the Blanks.

1. My plans this summer include traveling, soaking up family time before moving, New York, and finishes up with school to get my degree! :)

2. The best summer I ever had was   my summer missions summer where I spent 2 months in Montana loving on children during VBS and seeing the state for what it was! :)

3. Summer is sweet tea, HOT, lemonade, VBS, Nike Shorts, tshirts, cute dresses, pool days....

4. My favorite summer food is  a grilled hamburger and Mi Pueblo. Duh! Right for any time of the year!
5. The best way to quench a summer thirst is with    water (healthy choice) and sweet tea, my preference!

6. My summer uniform consists of   mostly shorts and t-shirts, and occasionally a cute dress.
7. The best thing about summer is   it just makes people feel giddy inside. Time to do what you need and want to do!

Tomorrow I'm leaving on a jet plane to New York! I'm so excited and can't wait to share it with you!

Thursday is a good day.

Hey Friends!

Just got home from my first, 1st grade teacher meeting. Overwhelmed is the word. Look it up.  I'm so excited but very unsure of myself and hoping that I can be the best teacher that I can be.  Please start praying now ! :) I found out the name of the precious firsties that will be in my class today and I am very excited. That makes it real

I am just now realizing that I forgot to do WILW and I'm sad. There is always next week..

I packed ALL day yesterday and I am hopefully going to finish up today. Last night was probably my last night to spend the night in Oxford. Yes, it's sad. But... I am so filled with joy about my new life in Southaven! I was thinking today while driving how Jesus has given me the desires of my Heart. I will forever be grateful. I'm so thankful for friends, family, and a job! continue to pray for my friends who are still waiting. I can't imagine!

I'm stressing but looking forward to:
  • leaving for New York on Saturday.
  • decorating my classroom. (pictures under this list) Any neat suggestions? I lucked up and the teacher before me left a plethora of things. I will get rid of some of it though! :)
  • moving and decorating my apartment.
  • starting new. God is good!

Hope your Thursday is going well. :)
