I think I can, I think I can. It's Friday!

Friday, August 30, 2013

I think since it's the lovely day of Friday, we should have a little letter session!

Dear Friday: I thought you would NEVER arrive! My kiddos have been crazy wild and it's time you showed your face.

Dear Ms. Patton: Remember your babies need all the love from you that they can get. Don't yell so much, love on their snotty faces and realize that these babies could see Jesus in your more than anyone else.

Dear Ole Miss Football: You are already causing me to have high blood pressure. The game last night was eventful and I'm thankful that the first one is behind us! Let's keep working hard and WIN (the point of the game).
#HOTTY TODDY!

Photo: It's Here!! Football season y'all! Hotty toddy!

Dear Fall: I'm not trying to hurry my life away but I'm getting ready to see you! It's super hot in Mississippi and I'm ready for jeans, boots, scarves and all that fun stuff. :)

Blogger friends: Since school has started, I really have had no motivation to blog and I'm in a rut. Is there anything you are dying to know about me or have ideas for blog posts. I would love to hear them.

email me: lauren_patton@hotmail.com

Happy Labor Day Weekend, y'all!

It's True.

Blogging has been nothing but a blessing to me! Luckily, knock on wood, I haven't been caught up in any drama and fighting between the ladies who blog. I feel that blogging is such a personal journey and a place where I can come to show my style, my spirit and my spunk!

But.. so many times I see things that I just have to do, have to experience and have to buy! Have you ever been there?

It's sad! But, so fun at the same time!

for example:

Coupons: I love finding ways to save money! Since becoming a "serious" blogger, I have found numerous coupons and ways to save a little bit of moolah. Seriously, some bloggers even focus ALL THE TIME on ways to save money and share their knowledge with us! Check them out!

DIY: I love a good crafty project and a sweet lady who blogs posted some beautiful fabric from Hobby Lobby on her blog page. Of course it inspired me and I had to find this fabric pronto! I thought these fabrics were beautiful together and just like that.. A blog post got me into a store!

Home Decor/Decorating: I've always liked decorating but since reading lots and lots of blogs, decorating has a whole new meaning. I am not a match-y person, cue this picture, but I love looking at the most stylish houses around. Blogs give me so much inspiration while just sitting at home reading away!

Pictures of pretty much anything: I've always loved pictures, remember those days of the role that you had to send off. Oh, the days! Now, bloggers will take pictures of pretty much anything. Food, bathrooms, clothes, etc. It's fun to see what makes it on these ladies' blogs.
I'm broke because of blogging/bloggers: These shoes for examples. I had seen enough of these glittery shoes on blogs that I just had to try it out for myself. They are a staple in my wardrobe for a least 3 days a week. So, it's true. Most things that bloggers wear and share ARE really worth your time and money. I adore my purchase! :)
ATTENTION: Blogging may make you go broke.

I wouldn't have it any other way! I just love this community we have.

Weekend Shenanigans.- The Busy Life.

Monday, August 26, 2013

These past couple of weeks have been CRAZY.
I'm thankful that I am starting to get the hang of Kindergarten and that God is good and gives me the strength that I need every. single. day.

Hopefully I can get my groove on this week and get back to the blogging world! I've missed it!!

1.) Carlye was a beautiful bride! We've got a lot of fun memories and this day is one of my favorites with this girl!
2.) Hutch and Carlye are perfect for each other. Their ceremony was precious and reminded me all over again that God is good and blesses his children. He wants to make us happy!
3.) I got to see this girl, Claire! She was a bridesmaid and looked beautiful in her pretty, yellow dress. Is it bad that the teacher in me starting singing the Y-e-l-l-o-w song. :)
4.)  David Wise was there looking all spiffy.
5.) OH, the single girl flower toss. I love this moment! :) and NO, it wasn't mine for the win yesterday!

6.) The Patton's are ready for some Ole Miss football. Thursday night it is. :)
7.) I loved my Target, Maxi skirt this morning for church. These things are the most comfortable!
8.) I had this pillow made for my apartment. I can't wait for it to be MINE.
9.) Daddy bought a new toy and guess who got to ride today? I love being an outside, country girl SOMETIMES....

Hope y'all have had a wonderful weekend. This is my motto for the week.

I was doing some blog reading the other day and came across this article and it SPOKE life to me! I'm in this exact season of my life and I felt like this article was exactly on point. For the sake of time, I copied and pasted the article on my blog instead of leading you to the site. The link is at the bottom if you would like to check the site out!

Tell me this isn't the truth! God has a beautiful plan for my life and I can't wait to see it unfold even MORE!

You don't have to have it all figured out by 30 (or really by any age, because life is a constant journey). During our 20-something years, there can be a tremendous amount of pressure to figure everything out. We search for answers to important questions like "What do I want?" and "What do I want to do with my life?"
I was on track to answering those questions in my 20's. I had a prestigious career, a man I loved who proposed, money, fancy clothes and so on. When I lost it all at 27, I judged myself as a huge failure. I went from having everything to believing something was wrong with me.
But nothing was wrong with me. And nothing is wrong with you, either, if you feel like you failed at something or like a failure because you haven't done enough. You're simply going through a normal rite of passage that you may even call your "quarterlife crisis." So, if you feel confused, like nothing is really "right," but nothing feels "wrong," either, don't worry, you're NORMAL.
This time of our life when we are supposed to be "having the time of our life" can be overwhelming and downright scary at times. It can also be a time of great discovery, freedom and exhilaration if you are willing to remove expectations from others, society and yourself to figure everything out on a certain timeline or according to a certain checklist.
Now I'm saying you don't have to figure out everything but you do have to do something. Your life purpose is not going to just hit you like a lighting bolt while you're sitting in Starbucks surfing Facebook. If you want to live a life of meaning and make a meaningful impact, it's time to redefine your version of "everything."
I spent the past month interviewing over 30 thought leaders and experts who are in their twenties and thirties as part of a free resource called the Quarterlife Upgrade. One of the questions I asked each one was "What do you wish you knew then that you know now?" Below I share some of the themes that emerged from the interviews to reassure you, inspire you and remind you that you are not alone:
  1. You will fail. Allow yourself to make mistakes. You will learn so much valuable insight and information from failure so stop playing it so safe. Not risking is risky.
  2. Don't try to be perfect. It's not only exhausting, it's impossible.
  3. Your parents may want you to do things the way they did them or the way they think you should do them. Follow your own path even if they don't agree (and don't worry, they'll get over it).
  4. There is huge value in "oh no!" moments. The things that don't go according to plan are often the biggest blessings in your life -- sometimes, it just takes time to clearly understand what the blessing is.
  5. Do things to stand out, but don't just do them to stand out.
  6. Live your life according to your deepest values -- don't make hot, rich and famous your goal, because you'll never be fulfilled.
  7. Youth does not make you invincible, but it does give you the amazing opportunity to create habits for healthy living NOW.
  8. SLEEP. Eat green foods and ditch processed stuff (if you do not know or can't pronounce the ingredients, don't eat it!)
  9. Enjoy your body and stop punishing it with your criticism and yo-yo dieting. Breathe, meditate, say affirmations and exercise.
  10. Ladies, get off a timeline! Let go of the pressure of your biological clock because stress has an adverse effect on your fertility.
  11. Chemistry is necessary, but not sufficient in romantic relationships. Make a list of your values and top five non-negotiables and DO NOT SETTLE.
  12. Friendships matter -- they contribute significantly to your health and longevity!! Ditch toxic friendships and put the effort into friends who inspire and support who you are and where you are headed.
  13. Don't date someone's potential. When someone tells you or shows you who they are the first time, believe them.
  14. ALL relationships teach us valuable things about ourselves and are a catalyst for growth. Even if they end, they are a success if you are willing to look at what you learned about yourself.
  15. When it comes to break-ups, let go! No ex-stalking or obsessing. Move forward and do not shut down your heart. Getting hurt in love is something we all experience.
  16. There is no one "soul mate." You will probably have multiple romantic relationships and the MOST important relationship you have is the one with YOURSELF. No one can complete you other than YOU.
  17. The trick to personal finance is budgeting and SAVING, but be limitless in your money mindset. Learn ways to increase and appreciate your abundance right now. Abundance does not just come in form of money.
  18. Answering the question, "What do I want to do with my life" is more often a process of elimination rather than a lighting bolt of inspiration.
  19. Have patience because opportunity and success come in real time. Overnight success is not possible and you don't have to love your job to be happy at it!
  20. The workplace doesn't tolerate slackers -- don't be one!! Be more than your job description.
  21. Entrepreneurs: make sure the business you are starting is solving a specific problem. The most important ingredients to being an entrepreneur are initiative and discipline.
  22. Burnout is not a badge of honor. Don't try to do it all, focus on the 5% you're great at and delegate the rest!
  23. Develop your personal brand -- remember your passion makes you unique!!
  24. Write down what you want to be known for. Make a list of your professional and character values and never sell out.
  25. Your thoughts are creating your reality, so you are either attracting things to you or repelling them from you. Be mindful of your thoughts!
  26. Stop comparing yourself to everyone else and being so hard on yourself. Don't use Facebook as a torture device. Quiet your Inner Mean Girl or Inner Mean Dude and be your own best friend. Seriously, be nice to yourself!!!
  27. You're a grown up now, it is time to lovingly cut the umbilical chord with your parents and live YOUR life.
  28. Learn the language of your intuition and how to recognize when your heart is speaking to you and then how to respond once it does.
  29. Find a cause that you have an emotional tie to, educate yourself on the mission and get involved. Service is a key ingredient to happiness.
  30. Adopt a "what can I give" versus "what can I get" mindset. That is how you truly make an impact on the world.

So thankful for growing up and knowing that not everyone has to follow the same path.

Weekend Shenanies.

Sami's Shenanigans

Hey lovely people! I've had an amazing weekend and I'm ready for bed so this will be short and sweet

1.) The best came to the Haven and we had tons of fun! This was our walk on Beale.. We drove downtown, I did a heck of a parallel park job and we just walked around and watched all the craziness!
2.) Pedicures for both of us! I found a place in Southaven that will do Mani/Pedi for $35 and I almost fell out! That is an awesome price. HOW am I just now hearing this??
3.) A little Saturday shopping and we found this swinging outside swing. It was fun but a little scary to get in. Pier One, in case some of you would like to purchase this. :)
4.) We were looking snazzy for church so we decided that a new picture was a must!
5.) Harper wanted a picture with her mama too! I love that baby!
6.) I'm a Starbucks GOLD member as of Thursday! I'm not really sure what all of this means but I'm pumped about it. I'm ready for card to come in the mail! :)

I love when Caitlyn comes to Southaven and we get to hang out and be adventurous. Also, today at church we had a commissioning prayer for teachers and it meant the world for the congregation to lay hands on us and bless our year, encourage us to use our position to show children Jesus and for their support. If you know a teacher, tell them thanks! I know if they are like me they will appreciate it more than you know!

Happy Monday!

This Teacher is TIRED.

This little guy is my HERO!

I just love what he has to say.

I've had my first day with my Kindergarten babies and they are going to be full of challenges and lots of hugs this year. I've got a classroom that is going to be so fun and very, very lively!

I saw lots of teacher's post this prayer but it is so true and spoke volumes to my heart. Every student in my room this year was picked and I have to count my blessings about the children the Lord has blessed me with! I pray that this prayer is on my heart every morning while I am prepping for the day.

For all of my MSU friends, our school colors are maroon and white. Look what the required "shirt" was today. To say this die hard REBEL was okay was this still stands! :) Also, Starbucks was bought for a "happy" on the first day.

I'm so excited to begin this school year and I'll be sure to update you over on my teaching blog! Also, Facebook, twitter and Pinterest will be full of my happies too! For all of my teacher friends, let's all remember this:

Let me know your thoughts, ladies!

Sami's Shenanigans

Hey ladies! Hope you have all had a FANTASTIC weekend. Mine has gone by way.too.fast but at least I have another one to look forward to. I love spending my weekends shopping and catching up with friends!

Friday night, I got to spend time with my friend Merle. :) I haven't seen her in a while and it was good to catch up and have a little mini yard sale in the back of my trunk! That's another story for another day but I've been in a "getting rid of stuff" mood lately and all of these Facebook sale pages are rocking my world!

Yesterday was a FUN Sunday!
1.) Harper came back to the haven with me! It's been a fun summer at Nonna and Grandaddy's house! She seems to be adjusting well. No worries, Nonna!
2.) I loved the walking Target ad that I was at church this morning! Pink polka dot dress and my favorite black/brown combo shoes. I love the dresses that I can mix with other patterns and colors to make it work.
3.) Had a little get-away trip with Lane last night to our favorite place, TARGET! Our Target had a lot of the cute summer shoes on clearance so GO, NOW!

Today begins my 1st day back of my 3rd year of teaching! Are you kidding me? I still feel like it's my first year all over again. This is my motto for this school year and I can't wait to meet my Kindergarten babies.
I'm really hoping to keep up with my classroom blog this year.

Happy Monday to you all!
